My summary:
Violet can sense the echoes of the dead, be it animals or humans, she has been able to ever since she was a little girl. Mostly Vi has discovered little animals but now a serial-killer is on the loose in her own town and she stumbles across the echo of something a lot larger than a mice.Like that isn't enough to cope with for a sixteen-year old girl she has also fallen for her best friend since childhood, Jay Heaton. Things are complicated and Vi finds herself in a very dangerous situation.
My thoughts:
Vi is a though character, having a gift sensing dead animals or humans sounds very disturbing to me but she handles it in a good way. Luckily Vi has a supportive family, she finds them a bit overprotective but when you read the book or if you've read it I think you will agree with me that it's no wonder they're trying to protect her. Jay, Vi's best friend, stands by her side always and helps her out every way he can. Jay is such a great character although he has his flaws as well, but I won't be telling you those because that would be spoiling part of the story ;)
Derting has written some of the chapters from the killers point of view, that was a great idea. It threw me right off the track at some point of the story. I'm sure I looked like I was in shock like "OMG! It can't be!!".
The Body Finder was a great read and a wonderful kind of YA murder mystery romance, with a couple of excellent twists that took me by surprise. I just devoured it. I was a little scared at times(especially when it was at the most exiting part and I was home alone LOL) but that is a compliment to the author.

The cover:
I think it's pretty but it feels like it's got little to do with the story. Not sure I would have picked it up based on the cover alone.

This book can be purchased from a number of local retailers and on-line book stores such as Amazon or The Book Depository (I'm not an affiliate of either). The latter store does by the way have free shipping to about 100 countries.
This is on my list, I've heard such great things about it. And I LOVE the book depository, it's so cheap and free shipping! I try to avoid it though because I log on to buy ONE book and end up buying TONS. Oh well, you can never have too many books I reckon :-)
ReplyDeleteThe cover doesn't really say much. But I am happy to hear that the book is good. Still not a mystery fan
ReplyDeletemummazappa: I know! I do that too.. no wonder my shelf is overflowing with unread books. I cannot possible read them as fast as I'm buying them. And lets face it.. even if it is cheap it really isn't when we're buying tons of books in stead of just one or two LOL ;)
ReplyDeleteBlodeuedd: It's a good one and her 6th sense is in one way almost a supernatural ability I would.
This does sound like a great book! I LOVE the cover, even if it doesn't have anything to do with the story - maybe it's just the violet color in the orchid that connects it to the story. I've already put it on my Goodreads wishlist! Thanks for the review!
