Introducing Nina

Hi! I'm Nina, and I'm the new girl here at Escape in a Book. I'm a 24 year old Norwegian who moved to Boulder, Colorado in 2010, with plans of only staying for a year. Easy to say, harder to do, as I fell head over heels in love with this amazing town, and the even more amazing guy who is now my husband.

I work as a nanny, which gives me plenty of time to read while my little girls are taking their naps. I have my own personal blog in Norwegian where I post the occasional book review, but I am very excited that Ladybug has given me a chance to be a part of Escape in a Book, so that I can write even more about the books I love (and the ones I don't).

Naming my favorite books is always one of the hardest things someone can ask me, and I've compared it to asking a mom to choose between her own cihldren, but I guess I can still give it a try. My all-time favorites are all series; The Dark Tower by Stephen King, Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter and Meredith Gentry by Laurell K. Hamilton, Fever by Karen Marie Moning, Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill, Jaz Parks by Jennifer Rardin, Georgina Kincaid by Richelle Mead, Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward, and the series above all others - Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. (All links lead to series listing on Goodreads.)

When I'm not holed up in my bedroom with a book, or hanging out in front of the tv with my laptop slowly burning red marks onto my thighs, I try my best to keep up with the active Colorado lifestyle. I don't snowboard or ski (yet, as my husband always says), but I run, hike, bike and whatever else I can do outdoors. I also love photography, and if not for trivial matters such as rent and food (who needs a place to stay anyway?), I would be buying myself a new DSLR right away.

So that's a little bit about me, and you'll see more of me (or you know, my reviews) here on Escape in a Book from now on! You can also add me on GoodReads, where I'm a very active user.

  6. Nice to meet you Nina. We have almost the same name. Just cut the first N in your name and you'll know mine.

I see you have read The Dark Towers. Lucky you. I'm planning to read the first book of the series when the summer vacation starts. (Huge fan of Stephen King).

    Looking forward to your reviews:)

@Book Reviews From The BasementThe Dark Tower is simply amazing, and perfect for summer vacation. I at least had a hard time getting anything done while reading them!:)

Are you an Au-pair? =) My best friend went to the US to be an au-pair for a year and come home but she found the love of her life there and never came back =P

  9. No, I must have been living under a rock! But I do own the four first Anita Blake books by Laurell K. Hamilton, the two first in the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning and the first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward(this one I won from the Norwegian publisher). I kind of have a bad habit buying more books than I have time to read :O
