News: Synopsis for J.K. Rowling's first adult novel is out in the wild!

Author J.K. Rowling became a celebrity after writing the Harry Potter series and September 27th this year her first novel for adults will be relased(worldwide). The new novel is titled The Casual Vacancy and for all of those just as curious as I am here's the synopsis:

The Casual Vacancy

When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock.

Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems.

And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?

Blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising, The Casual Vacancy is J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults.

J.K. Rowling has also just launced a new website. Check it out here. Kind of slow going at the moment(UK version worked better than the US one) but perhaps there are thousands of fans trying to visit the site at the same time? Who knows.

What do you think?
Sounds far from the world Rowling created for Harry Potter and company but I'm super curious so I have to read it(and I haven't even read the HP-series yet, shame on me!! I'm getting to it..shortly I hope).

  1. Thanks for sharing! I always seem to miss announces like this, haha. I've been so excited about this one since we first heard it was going to be released. It's so fun to get a title and description! Honestly I would read it no matter what it was about. :)

I'm really happy that she's branching out Harry Potter and doing something completely different.
