Vlog(a first): My review pile for April

So I've been thinking about making a vlog for quite some time now, I did one ages ago where I hid behind the camera and just showed my bookshelf or books for an IMM post, I don't even remember. Since so many of you are brave enough to put your face out there, I've decided I can do this as well!

Books mentioned:
The Intern by Dillon Khan, published by Puffin.
Forbidden (The Books of Mortals #1) by Ted Dekker & Tosca Lee, published by Hodder & Stoughton.
White Horse by Alex Adams, published by Atri/Emily Bestler Books(S&S).
The Prophet (Graveyard Queen #3) by Amanda Stevens, published by Mira(Harlequin).

I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, but the end result didn't turn out that bad, did it? I have serious issues when it comes to speaking English... I blog in English but when I'm in situations where I need to speak English I say as little as possible. The words just keeps getting stuck in my mouth. It's so silly really, I know what I want to say but I just feel so embarrassed that I cannot seem to transport the words from my brain to my mouth. Ok, so I'm not mute but I just hate feeling stupid and it's paralyzing the speaking area of my brain LOL So this is excellent practice and once I've started it can only get better, right?

Now I think I need to learn some video editing but where can I go to learn some easy tricks that makes a vlog a bit more exiting?

  1. Awesome Vlog, Mari :) I have to say that I am totally hesitant about doing vlogs as well. I like to watch them, but as English isn't my native language either I am really afraid to feel embarassed because of all the stupid mistakes I make and things like that... but you really did an AMAZING job! Of course you can hear your slight Scandinavian accent - but I LOVE Scandinavian accent. Well, I love Scandinavia in general. I took some Swedish classes some time ago and might go on with it thish semester if it fits into my schedule.

... but I'm babbling again. Awesome job and the books you got sound really amazing. Especially the first one sounds as if I could like it. I'm totally going to take a closer look at it.

    Have a wonderful week :)

    1. What a lovely comment, Miri! Thank you, it really means a lot to me :) I thought I'd just dive into it.

You took Swedish classes, wow! I can understand Swedish as it is pretty similar to my native Norwegian tongue ;) I took German lessons for four or five years so I understand some German but I'm totally crap when it comes to speaking. Ich bin Auslander und spreche nicht gut Deutch...something along those lines LOL

  2. Mari, that vlog was fantastic!! Kudos for being so brave, although you had nothing to worry about, your English is truly excellent and I love your accent.

I've always wanted to do a vlog, it's about diving in and just doing it isn't it?

I just finished The Kingdom and picked up The Prophet from NetGalley ... very excited!!

    1. Thanks, Vivienne! Sooo perhaps I can visit England and people will know what I'm saying. England is not that far away, only an hour or so by plane actually. Some more vlog practicing and I might just dare to speak when/if I go visit.

  4. Honestly Mari, had you not have mentioned anything, I wouldn't have known you have issues pronouncing English words. Your english is fantastic! And like Teddyree above, I love your accent! I always find it fascinating listening to different accents :)

And heck, at least you can so coherently speak another language. Me? I think I know about 20 words in Italian and a few vague phrases. Plus a couple random greetings in Japanese. That's the extent of my foreign vocab haha.

Anyway, love the vlog! And I hope you enjoy paging through your great reads and getting down that TBR!

    1. Awww, thanks Brodie! I've taken English classes since I was seven or eight years old till I was nineteen. Now the kids start even earlier. I think most schools starts to teach the kids English here in Norway from age six.

I guess it's not the same system with one single foreign language in English speaking countries?

    1. I don't know what possessed me, but I thought it was best to just dive into it when I had the courage. I have no problem understanding that you feel that way. I've been thinking about this for a couple of years before I finally did it.
