Stephenie Meyer writes new series and I didn't even know it!

This is news to me!
According to USA Today Stephenie Meyer is writing on a new series. This time she has chosen a mythological being very different from vampires. Meyer is writing about MERMAIDS. Now what do we think about that? I would love to hear your thoughts on this piece of information.

I quote USA Today(read the entire article here):
Even Stephenie Meyer, who made her fame and fortune writing about vampires, told USA TODAY in March that she's writing about mermaids. (And, yes, she was wearing a silver mermaid necklace when she said it.)

The article on USA Today is a year old and I did not know this. Have I been living under a rock? Did any of you guys know? I feel so behind right now LOL

A big thanks goes to Stacey O'Neale for mentioning this to me on Twitter. Because of Stacey I fervently searched Google and finally found what I was looking for.

Don't forget to check out my WANTED post.
I need a new blog partner over at Escape In A Book, are you the one I'm looking for?

  2. I had no idea either. I didn't think she was writing at all because of all the producing she was doing on the movies and her blog doesn't mention this at all :/ Wish I would have known sooner.

    1. Maybe it is not her top priority? It must be a lot of work with all those movie productions going on at the same time :)

  5. I DID NOT know about this! I think she is just following the mermaid trend happening in YA recently.

    1. I can agree to that, but it will be fun to see if she can pull it off. I haven't read any good mermaid stories yet.

  9. I remember hearing about this a while ago (maybe in this article) but I haven't heard anything since about when/if she'll have more books coming out. I don't know if I'll be excited to read them when she does. The movie hype has been so extensive that I'm kind of Meyer-ed out right now.

  10. I must've been under a rock, too...I had no idea! Although, I don't read USA Today, so if it wasn't really mentioned in other places I wouldn't have seen it. lol Thanks for letting us know! I had no idea. lol

  11. OK I heard Mermaids are so done than so is Vampires by the time Meyer wrote Twilight Series Anne Rice and about a billion others had written about it. Not that Mermaids have been done its how will she do it!! Love Love I'm a HUGE FAN and thinking THIS ROCKS. Can't wait!!

  12. Apparently mermaids are the new vampires/werewolves/angels. I've yet to read a good mermaid novel, too, but I'm sure there must be some around. Not that I'm so eager to explore, actually. I started one, and it was an ARC of The Mermaid's Mirror, but I didn't finish it.

In a nutshell: I didn't know, but I'm not particularly surprised at her choice of subject. I might pick her new book up when it's released, but I'm only moderately curious - this is the author who wrote Breaking Dawn, after all.

  13. I could get into a mermaid story, but I'm not a fan of Twilight, so I'm not sure I'll be able to get into Meyer's mermaid story.

  15. I think that I've heard about it, even though I can't remember it :) It didn't feel like news to me, so maybe I've just forgotten about it?

  16. I didn't know until I saw something on FB ... lots of us under that rock lol. I'm a twilight fan but can't believe Stephanie Meyer has got on the mermaid train. 6 months ago I read an article predicting that mermaids were going to be the next big thing LOL

  18. Not sure if anyone has mentioned it before (too many comments to work through!) but she talked about her mermaid and ghost books shortly after The Host has been published, I think. o.o She only said that she had some ideas about a ghost and a mermaid book, but she DID talk about it even then. (Maybe it was after Eclipse, but I think it was after The Host.. Back then I really liked her books. o.o)
